Default How Many Characters Per Account?

I bought the pre-order on Saturday morning and started a Monk / Warrior. I made it to level 5 and through the academy by Sunday night. What a blast!
My question... If I want to start a new character at some point, will I loose my current character? Sorry if it's been asked before but I read most of these forums and haven't seen this come up.

For the original release, you'll be able to have up to 4 different characters at a time. After that, you'll have to start deleting them. They may change that number sometime in the future (with an expansion pack?), but they haven't mentioned any plans yet.

Four. Which is a number one more than three and one less than five yet, oddly enough, six less than the number of characters required to make a post. Weird, huh?

And, no, you won't lose a character unless you delete it yourself.

Currently you can have 4 characters to an account. As for what it will be like during release, they haven't made a definite announcement (unless I missed it in the past few days). Will probably be around 4, and I doubt lower.

Well I've read that during errors in some other games, characters accidentily get deleted. I hope that doesn't happen in GW.

You may have one more then 3, no more, no less. Not 2, unless tho then proceed to 3, and then onto 4, not 5.

So you can have 5, no, 3, no, 4 characters!

I wish it was more, even 5 would be better.

4 characters is alright, but I too want much more. Even 1 more slot for a PvP character (I want the rest for PvE/PvP characters) although 2 - 4 would be much better.

AH yes, Monty Python and the Holy Grail... great stuf..

Bt then again, opn subject...

I was worried when at the very end of this last BWE I made an elemenetalist. because I had guild cape and it said this character was the new head of my guild. I guess whatever character you sign on as is it but thats cool. It would be nice if liek EQ it was 8.

Perhaps a little off-topic here but the question has something to do with characters Is it 100 characters per guild or accounts?

100 accounts per guild, all characters on one account will belong to the same guild.

Also, if you want more than 4 characters you can always buy another copy of the game.

That's an interesting idea, separating character quanity by type.

I'd certainly not mind four PvEs and four PvPs.

This is true, however, we are talking one person. Plus, I am sure 2 peopel could share 4 character slots. 2 each maybe?

If those two people like GW enough, that family would probably see quite a bit of fighting. And.. we do want ANet to make money. So to head off any possible suggestions of allowing two people to share an account (like some people have asked in the past).. ANet -is- a business after all.

As for the opinion that it's pointless to buy another copy.. well, quite a few people think the opposite. I, for one, will be hogging both copies.

Hehehe.... well, for me and other solitary players in a household, its pointless. I am the only person in my house who plays it so... yeah. The way it was first said was like: If someone, like me here, bought to copies just so I could have 8. See what I mean? POINTLESS!

But yes, I do think it would be better that by the realease they made it a total of 6-8 total characters. (EverQuest has 8 per server. Which I have found to be a good number.)
